i think you have alot of it, but also remember for the price of a fully loaded contour you could get a taurus, and for the price a base model contour you could get a fully loaded escort
I head rear seat space for a family car was a big thing, and of course ford doesn't know how to market a good car
maybe it was teh european feel of the SE that people didn't get either
