TransSpeedSensor $30, mounted on the side of the transmission behind the left wheel caution: may be rusted in unless you are not in a salty road winter area., Trans range switch about $50 ,mounted on top of trans. Try those before replacing the trans. Before Doing Anything , check for codes with obd scanner. The TPS could also be bad, which is why you should scan for codes. Maybe Autozone can do that. All those sensors work together for the computer that controls the powertrain to make the right decision.

Throttle position sensor. Definitely visit Autozone. Post what you get for codes, many Ceg'ers know them.

MLP - Manual Lever Position sensor (aka Range Sensor)

That is the proper name. Might be a Ford Dealer part.

I'd check/replace the following in this order...looks like you alrady done some of this.

0. Pull Codes
1. Check Fluid level
2. Check/Replace TSS - Turbine Speed Sensor
3. Install Transgo Shift correction kit - you don't have to pull trans to do this.
4. If your codes indicate defect elecronic solonoid then you will have to replace the shift solonoid pack as well as instal the shift corretion kit. The key is if you have any codes and can get them read.

If you still have the same problem, then you will probably need a rebuild....replacing perhaps, direct drive drum, install master rebuild kit and replace torque converter.

Change your fluid out if you haven't done a fluid change in awhile.
