okay, I haven't been here for while I hate to tell you the reason I am here today. My engine blew in my 98 Contour SVT.

I am being told my connector rod broke causing all kinds of damage to the inside of my motor. I have been given 2 options. Re-build or drop a new motor in. There is an SVT dealership close to me in Canada that apparently sells crate motors. I would really appreciate any advice anybody has. I am afraid to let my mechanic start ripping it apart if my best option is to go brand new. I haven't researched my options as well as I could have, as of yet. I would like some sound advice first to see what my next step should be.
There is definately damage to the heads and that's all I know. It was making a ticking sound and my mechanic took it for a run and said not to worry, it was just my heat shield. So I didn't worry but when the sound got louder I realized I had a major problem. It died while I was on the highway and won't re-start along with making some terrible crunching and grinding noises. I love my SVT how can I make her better again?
