Some pics for you guys, since I haven't posted pics in a while .
I got the K&N open filter, which caused massive massive moosing. In went the copper pipe cap, and the moosing stopped. I'm not quite sure, but has anyone else noticed a decrease in power from this? I've read that some people have, but I'm not too familiar with the 3L side of things.
I was fooling around today, and opened up the hole in the cap slightly with a drill...the moosing came back, but I think the car is pulling a little better. But then again, maybe my mind is playing tricks on me?
Anyways...any ideas of how to retain the power and get rid of the moose? Perhaps an aftermarket aluminum intake tube would help?
Thanks guys!

a resonating, reverberating fog-horn like sound that emminates from within the intake tubing, usually either on cold startups (cold weather temps), or during moderate revving, or both.
usually accompanied by throttle hang, though either can appear individually.

Should have nothing to do with your overall power.
If you have moosing bad, check that you have the most updated SVT Idle air control valve. There is a distinct difference between the SVT and non SVT IAC. The dealership accidently installed the stock non-SVT IAC on my car years ago and the moosing sound appeared. I figured out the problem and took it back to the dealer and they eventually put the right one on the car. Then the sound went away. With my Intercooler on I now sometimes get a little but ONLY when the outside air temp is very hot, and it soon goes away.

Should be the SVT one unless the orginal owner changed it. I never took it off the SVT intake manifold when I did the 3L swap. Wouldn't hurt to change it I suppose. Look for someone parting out a SVT in the classifieds and you might find one cheap.

Thanks for the replies. Can you point me in the direction of telling the difference between the updated SVT and non SVT IAC's?
After I opened up the hold in the pipe cap slightly I have moosing on every shift! Going to put another one in with the regular hole size for the time being. It's weird because I had absolutely no moosing with the stock intake. As soon as I put on the open air filter, it was moosing 24/7.
Anyways, I'll look into changing it.
Isn't there another way to fix moosing- I was reading past posts on an "updated resonator"...but I'm not sure if my svt has this or not.

An alternative that has been discussed is a 3' length of tubing to replace the tube to the IAC. You then just coil up the new tubing & hang it out of the way. Supposed to get rid of the moose & not affect power at all as the tubing is wide open & free flowing.
I've never tried it myself. Anybody report on this??
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Why don't you try the 45 degree bend hose first? (from the 97 TSB). F8RZ9H308AA about $15. And see if that helps.
