I almost lost a good friend to drunk driving, and of course I was angry when I heard it was a drunk driving accident. But I can never in my life imagine saying I will show no simpathy because it was his mistake. People all do foolish things at one point or another in their life and no one is perfect.
What if someone was driving late at night, very tired and they sat a red light. For some reason they think the light changed and they pull out and get hit. Would we say no simpathy because it was their fault for pulling out? No, we wouldn't.
I really hope your friend pulls through. My heart goes out to him and you.

A lot of Holier Than Thou in this thread going on. It's nice to know that we have a lot of perfect human beings, and citizens to grace our presence. I for one have been in the position where drinking and driving has effected my life. It's not a matter of changing the past, it's a matter of making a change for the future. Chad, I hope your friend pulls through, and hope even more that he learns from his mistake.

You seem to be missing the point of prayer...
to HELP SOMEONE...
to invest YOUR time, and YOUR energy, and YOUR good wishes on someone else.
To say that you won't waste your "precious" time on someone else sounds like you missed the meaning behind a prayer, anyway.
EDIT: and yes.. I AM married, and if I mess up by cheating, and asked for prayer, while I pray to fix the problems I have within myself (to save my marraige) then I would hope that others would, indeed, keep me in their prayers. Just because they (you.. I... whoever...) cheated, doesn't mean that they can't repent, and work to fix it.. and it doesn't mean that you can't pray to give them (the wife, and the husband) the much needed strength they will surely need to overcome such a disasterous event....
/EDIT

If or when he does, I guarantee that he will NOT be happy to see the support in making sure he doesn't do this again. I for one, hope to beable to talk to him again...regardless if it's about cars, girls, OR chewing him a new [censored] for the pain and suffering he's caused himself and loved ones.
The support on here is trully blessed. I WILL let him know of his support that extends beyond family.
