True. If it only jumped a couple of teeth it would probably sound pretty normal.

That was the weird thing.....my car sounded really weird due to the fact it wasn't starting, which was wearing down the battery, etc. It usually isn't the biggest thing first.....it is possible to jump teeth on the timing belt....but very unlikely. That is why I said check the most obvious thing first; the starter.
