The community is VERY cool. Its a "must own an aircraft" community. Its a few min outside of town, and EVERY house has a hanger. They have 2 grass runways. All the street signs are less than 3 or so feet high, because we wouldnt want any wings hitting them. You land and taxi to your house. If you are driving, you must pull aside if an aircraft it on the road. Its AWESOME!!!! We almost moved there when we moved to Ocala, but its in a crappy school district (like I said, we used to have a Piper). Since its out of town, the housing costs STILL arent that high. . . .
They guys who started it has a mansion right off the main runway. He has an assortment of old war bids ( P-51, mig, etc.). You can always tell when he has been flying the mig, because there is a burnt strip in the grass after he has been there!
Its called Leeward Air Ranch, maybe some of you pilots have heard of it. They have a few fly ins there, usually before or after an big fly in in the area (in Orlando, Tampa, etc.).
