I'm now in my second set of plugs (motorcraft PP) and wires (9 mm ford racing). I didnt think they could be faulty with 68k mi, but I will change them and keep you guys informed about the results. Thank you all four your help.

Where are you on maintenance on these things?

Yep... Again you're the man with the plan Jim

I was thinking the same thing and saw your post. I'm sure glad you get on here with your experience and help so many people out. Sometimes I get too tired to post.
I can't remember the last time I every disagreed with your advice either....not that that would concern you I'm sure.

If the plugs and wires are fairly new, look elsewhere first. Pull the plug wires off the plugs and look for damage to the plug wire boots, oil or water in the plug well, etc. Pull one plug for inspection. Clean the throttle body and use some injector cleaner. If the plugs and wires look good and the problem persists after cleaning the throttle body and injectors, have a good look at the coil pack. There have been a few failures. If you know someone else with a Ford with a six cylinder coil pack system, see if you can borrow theirs long enough to plug it into your car and see if it makes a difference.
