By the way what are fuses 4 and 11?

And would you happen to know what the sensor is on the bottom of the intake tube in-between the MAF and the thrttle body?

Correct on the computer.

Fuse 4 and 11 in fuse box under hood to "re-learn" the computer.

Not sure about the sensor at bottom between the MAF and throttle body. I will have a look at mine (Duratec) tonight. Maybe someone with a Zetec could chime in.

How did you clean the IAC ? You need to spray the plunger opening with carb cleaner and sit it on its side for 10-20 mins and let it soak. Then try to scrub it with a cue tip or tooth brush best you can...then put your thumb over the opening and give it a good shake and rinse it out again with more carb cleaner. Then give it a light spray with WD40 or something light. Try that, before assuming you need to replace it. Also try replacing your PCV valve, and closely look for any vacume leaks...they will cause Idle issues as well.Is your Idle surging up and down? Like going up in speed then down to a stall?? If so, its likely the IAC valve (Idle Air Control). Fuel pressure seems ok...so either a vacume leak, or IAC is logical to me. Check your spark plugs, wires, engine oil, and coolant as well...hope you dont have a head gasket problem! Clean that IAC really good and reset the computer...I had once had to clean mine 2 times before I solved the same issue. Is the car shaking?or is it just surging up and down at idle?

Taasman, How do i get the plunger to open? I cleaned it last night but did not attempt to move anything internal on the valve, just sprayed in some carb cleaner and let it set for approx. 3-4 mins. before re installing it.

As far as the PCV valve.. is it what all the vacum lines are attached to mounted on the firewall?

The PCV valve is located in the intake manifold. Its like a $2.00 part...its metal and a rubber hose goes over it. You only have to clean the plunger through the housing opening...think you misread what I was saying. Clean it good though and lube it lightly. Get the ford CD for your model for more info. Yep, nothing there on my Duratec. On the Zetec, according to Haynes, it is the Intake Air Temperature Sensor.

Can you get a pic of it?

If the IAC doesn't work check you fuel pressure, the fuel pressure regulator could very well be the problem here. Also how are the plugs and wires doing? Just don't start replaceing parts randomly with out testing first.

Oh and if you need to move the little plunger in the IAC vavle hook it up to the connector and turn the key to run. Good luck.

UPDATE:

It appears that the MAF was the culprit. I called autozone and asked them to replce the sensor because I thought it was defective and it was within the 90 warranty. Funny thing is, the one they gave me didnt look exactly like the one I purchased 2 weeks ago. Any how, I swapped them out reset the brain and put 10-15 miles on the car and it seemed to run normal.

Thanks to all for the help!!!

Luke
