Lease special is looking VERY enticing... anyone have any experience with these?
Wonderful Mazda looks, great handling, so-so performance from the crappy rotary engine plagued with various problems. Get a 350Z instead.
i'm only looking at the rx-8 b/c lease specials currently make it VERY cheap
Are you considering how much the down payment is?
I know you said before that rebates and S-Plan pricing would offset the down payment, but I don't believe that it does.
I believe that $299 price assumes that you're already buying at Invoice (which is roughly S-Plan) or at least something close to it and that you take the MAC cash. Graduate Rebate actually went away this month as well but may come back next month as it often does. So you can't get that $500 either.
Now you don't have to put the $2600 down you can roll it into the monthly payment, but then it'll be more than $299, it'll actually be $425 or so.
Plus there's TTL, which depending on the state, is another roughly $2,000. You have to either put that down as well, or again, roll it into the note. So, in the end, that low monthly payment isn't so low.
Even if you were able to shave $2,000 off the down payment by negotiating you'd still have either pay $2600 down or roll it into the note, making the price not so cheap anymore.
You also are only getting a base RX-8 at that price. And that may be fine with you. It's certainly not lacking in performance at that package level; and is actually faster without the added weight of options. But you don't Leather, HIDs, Fogs, Moonroof, Heated Mirrors, Power Seats, Bose, and perhaps most importantly DSC or TC. The RX-8 can be extremely squirelly in the rain without DSC.
