I havent seen that particulaur Focus,
but every dyno I have seen with a Focus shows 170HP (give or take a few HP) is max.
Focaljet is loaded with peoples experiences.

It has the stock valve train installed.
Not good for reving past stock redline.

No, the stock valvetrain isn't good for anything past redline. Then again your only shopping at one place for your parts. Like I said, at the $1500 mark you should get a upgraded valvetrain with a port job and 3 angled valves. Besides, internet pricing VARIES alot. Have you checked with Esslinger, Alamo, Ford Racing or even contacted your local machine shop? (One pointed at performance) ALL of these other places are GREAT ways to get a good product that works at a good price. After all, FocusSport has to get thier heads done somewhere - why not cut the middleman out? I am sorry to hear that most of the Focus tuners out there are not getting more than 170hp on thier vehicles. The SVT focus STARTS at 170hp. The engine is the same other than the head and exhaust on the stock focus. I know alot of guys out there are running more mods than that on thier cars and should be pulling more power from them. But alot of it has to do with how they install them and whether or not the combo is tuned in and burned for thier car by using a dyno. You didn't state if the numbers were WHP or FHP numbers. Another point as well, how many of these guys have rolled thier cars on a dyno to find out what they are really pushing?

The performance differences between the standard Zetec and the SVT Zetec include;
Different cams, head, & exhaust,
more aggressive ECM program,
and dual stage intake manifold.

Pistons as well. I think the rods may be a different steel but with same dimensions as zetec.

So figure in parasitic drivetrain loss and they are making around 200hp at the flywheel. Most of the parts on the SVT focus are just bolt on's that most focus owners should already have if they are performing at that level. Don't know about the pistons or the rods(svt), but they are still buttery compared to aftermarket pieces. I wouldn't waste my time trying to get a set of them when they are almost as weak as the stockers in our cars. Anyone know if the SVT head has a different casting than our stock heads? Alot of aftermarket heads make more power by rearranging the ports and valving in the head, just wondering if the SVT head actually is different than stock focus heads. Or are they equivilent to a ported head? (same casting just larger better flowing ports)

The SVT focus is rated at 170bhp not whp. With transaxle loss it will usually dyno around 150 at the wheels. I'm not sure if the head casting is the same as the regular zetec. Mind this though not everything the svt has will be a DIRECT bolt-on. The intake cam has a different keyway for the cvt and the Intake manifold has dual stage runners. I know of a couple gents who have bolted on the mainfold along with some serious modification to the pcm to get it to change runners. If anyone really wants to go the svt route. Best bet would be to purchase the entire drivetrain along with all wiring and pcm.

the german touring car S170 focus had 250bhp (flywheel) with normall aspirated mods (better head etc) but the bottom end was the same as a stock ST170. i looked at a St170 head the other day which my friend has had ported and flowed, its a bit different to a zetec head anyway but you could see beforehand they arent ported/flowed as standard.

svt head will go onto a zetec block but i think the pistons might hit the valves
