Not really. You're saying they make their decisions because they're conservatives. I'm saying conservatives more often make good decisions. There is a difference.

I haven't seen much from you to convince me that you're not the flaming liberal you so frequently deny you are.

No...I think the whining started with the first post and I'm just making fun of the participants.
Now go lube up and get back in there!

LMFAO! all these statements are funny.

[now back to your regularly scheduled political bickering]

Is there any wonder why the only judges who can interpret the Constitution correctly also happen to be 'hard-line conservatives'.

Might want to choose which of the above you want to go with.

This isn't a chicken-egg argument. An individual's ideology (as determined by his track record and statments) is usually what gets him appointed to a bench in the first place.

You might want to brush up on your government basics, then, because criticizing certain aspects of a Republican President's agenda doesn't automatically make one a liberal. I could see how you could make the mistake, though, seeing as the right-wing radio, web, and print media have finely honed that technique.

Eh, attempt #15 to explain this concept to you failed, so I think I'll stop trying.

What do 'government basics' have to do with how one aligns ideologically? You can criticize conservatives and fall back on the 'moderate' excuse all you want, but after a while it gets old. There's only so much "I'm not a liberal" can do for you. At some point the things you feel are going to have to reflect what you say.

Dude, do you think I give a rat's arse what you or anyone here thinks of my ideology? Why would I deny being a liberal if I identified with that group? Your "us vs. them" view of the political spectrum is causing the problem here.

What problem? The 'us vs. them' view is the standard. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to read up on 'government basics'.

The government doesn't operate on an "us vs them" standard either. There are pleanty of senators and congressman that are considered swing votes

If a republican senator doesn't agree with one of Bush's policies does that mean he is automatically a liberal. Your argument makes no sense.

Politics do, and that's what I'm talking about.

Who is saying that? I'm not denying that there's a continuum, but it's not distributed as evenly as Viss1 is implying, especially in Washington.

But within the us and the them there are even more us vs them conflicts, and in the end it comes down to the fact that two people who share the same broad ideology (e.g "conservatism") do not necessarly aggree on every issue (e.g. "the war in iraq"). Especially when going to war in Iraq doesn't have anything to do with conservatism as an ideology, it has to do with republicans as a party
