What do 'government basics' have to do with how one aligns ideologically? You can criticize conservatives and fall back on the 'moderate' excuse all you want, but after a while it gets old. There's only so much "I'm not a liberal" can do for you. At some point the things you feel are going to have to reflect what you say.
