It's all about the torque. Torque breaks things. With a turbo, there is a large torque peak when the turbo reaches max efficiency. Usually around 3-4k rpms. With a SC, you get a nice even TQ and HP curve to redline. As Hector said, a SC is very easy on your drivetrain.
