i was sceptical about the JRSC how good it would be until i got it, and it has surpassed my expectations. i drive lead footted and its hardly effect fuel economy compared to when it was normally aspirated. its now at 207bhp @ 7PSI at the flywheel (160bhp at the wheels i think - but UK bhp is slightly different to USA bhp). personally i reserved judgement on critising the JRSC until i had tried it myself. i had read such good reports from dozens of people on focaljet that i couldnt resist, and i have made the right decision.
as for being difficult to tune, it took them 30 minutes on the dyno rollers and about 7 runs to tweak it to perfection - hardly rocket science!
i am getting 370 miles to a tank being lead footed, i know someone with a zetec turbo 2.0 who is getting 150 miles to a tank. and he has had alot of teething and running problems etc.
i know i could get alot more power from turbo but i dont want the bad economy (fuel is nearly £1 per litre in UK - i.e. 2 dollars per litre), dont want bad reliability, i just want a decent quick car to use every day and he comfortable to use on long journeys. plus i didnt want it off the road for months while the conversion was done. if i wanted big turbo BHP i would get something RWD or 4x4 i.e. Jap or cossy. that way it would be able to get all that power down aswell.
i'm not pro S/C or pro turbo, but for my needs the S/C suited me and i'm well happy with the results and from what i can see the positives outweigh the negs.
