Just ask Stazi how much boost my car makes from a stand still........I took him through first gear. 
My blower makes max boost practically right after I floor it. Benefit to having the roots blower. 
For everyday driving the S/C is seriously the way to go if you want more power all the time. Like Percyguin said mine hardly affects my gas mileage. That is running a Mustang GT MAF, chip and 42# injectors. If you want ridiculous power, turbo is the only way to go. You can run more boost, which also requires more tuning, and wears down you engine fast. A lot of give and take when it comes to performance. If you want power sometimes run nitrous. Nowadays it is real safe. Like SleeperZ said running N/A for high power is pointless. To even build up the engine to run 170 hp you could very well buy any of the power adders above.
