Ok well i have been in contact wiht willow springs and things might get ugly.

Track rental is $2000 for 8a-5p.

WHich seems reasonable but then we need a list of other stuff.

Flag team, at least 5 guys, at 80-100 per guy

we need fire rescue at $85/hour. so figure $750 for the day.

Then Insurance I think he said was like $600

Then an instructor which he didnt say how much

so if you do the math call it about $4500 for the day.

If we can get 20 people it would run about $225 for the day.

Now I was also contact today by fast lane driving school ( see www.raceschool.com) and they normally charge $475 per day to bring your own car to one of their learning track days. I replied trying to see if we can get a custom event with just us. He said that if we can get at least 10 it is better for pricing.... will keep you guys updated

Heres a suggestion.... http://www.draxas.com

Contact Nick, the owner of Draxas and see when his next track day at willow springs is.

Last time Johnny and i went it was only about 100 bucks ( i think).

We got to spend all day at the track. A total of about 50 cars showed up...all diffrent makes and models (spec miatas were sweet).

But honestly, that might be the best way to go...Last time we tried to get an event like this going, we couldn't get more than 8 people so we canceled the event.

or check out www.RedlineTrackEvents.com thats how Nick sets it up.....oh i was just on the site...Aug 27th...My Birthday, is the next even. 110.00$$$ and it gives you a list of the personal equipment you will need to bring.

that might be the best way to go. Thanks for that info. There are a couple of other companies like that and are listed on the willow springs website. Might just have to get a group of guys out to do that.

chbix - if we can get 20 peeps or more together things like flag's and stuff and be done by 10 or so people waitting for another session. if you split the group depending on how many show up into 2-3 groups it will give cars/people cool-down time and they can hit the flags/cone work out on track. just one way to save a few bucks.

when i was at fontana instructors are something like 75 bucks. i only went a few weeks ago and i got an instructor so i know first hand what will be introduced to new drivers and how to drive around the track safely. not that i am a instructor or even auto-x pro but i can show people the basics of the do's and do not's.

also people might have to buy a helmet for those of you who have never done track work before it very well could be track policy. if you want to run out and get one at your local motorcycle shop that may not be good enough concidering auto helmets are different from motorcycle. (investigation into helmet and track policy is a must) i got a open face helmet DOT certified for $100.

also tech-inspections are a must, cars need to be in tip-top shape.

it may be a good thing that all of this information is introduced now so we can plan for a good day with people ready to have some fun on the track!

Yes helmets are required. They have to be Snell 95 or better rated.

As far as tech inspection, most of these places are Self Tech. It will really depend on where we go. I am really buys right now at work so when I get a chance I will give the particulars when I get a chance.

California speedway is SUPER expensive, double that of willow. Guy quoted me $8500 for the day, It does includ everything but if we get 20 people its still over 400 a peice

I dont think this is going to go down. Fastlane wants to charge 300 per person if we bring 10 to one of their events with other people.

If we want to do it during the week he will give us 4500 for everything with at least 10 people.

SO if I cant get atleast 20 people to sign up and come up with the $$$ its not really going to work. We are better off going through the redline course. I am still waiting replys from them on private groups but right now we cant beat that price even if it is with other people on the track.

Unless we can do a fund raiser, or something else its going to be like 200+ per person.

Redline is probably the best way to go....like you said its not going to be any cheap than redline, unless you get a fund raiser going...even then you may only shave 30-50 bucks per person (comes up to 170-200 dollars out of our pockets).

And they supply all the flag men, instructors and safety personel.

They do it in groups....its 3 groups total. A beginner class, intermidiate and advance.

Each gets 15 minutes (half hour, i dont remember) on the track and then they rotate to the next group...and its like that all day from 7am to 5pm when they close up.

thats the guy i spoke with about renting willow springs. i met him at the focus run through angeles crest highway. he gave me his card but i think i lost it.
his car is one of the one's i took a pic of in the focus on the beach show.
yeah, i think it would be much easier to go with his groups. we cant even get 10 people to show up for free sh*t!
