Probably best to try a new belt first.
yes it is possible but realize the engine is non interference, this means the valves will not com in contact with the piston if the timing belt goes.
valve to valve is something I have never heard of
so it seems those so say non-interference are right but those who say interference are not right by definition but right in that it can happen
talk about confusing
