I've discovered yesterday that my car's front is covered in little drops of red paint. Very small, but noticeable, obviously.

It rained alot in the recent days, and the drops are still there, so I suppose it's not water-based... How can I remove all of this [self-censored] paint off my finish without ruining it? I just hope I don't have to bring it to a body shop....

Clay bars are used at bodyshops for removing overspray. Clay bars are considered the "Detailers Secret."

this would be my first try. Then I would wax with paste NXT after clay baring the entire car..

Clay bar will take that off, I had stain overspray all over my car and it worked.

oh awesome... i have some overspray on my car and i was just thinking i'd have to live with it... any links to anything that show how to properly do this?

I don't have access to a buffer, and since I'm not used to using one, I'd better not.. :-)

I received a couple of emails about this, and the clay bar was the general solution to my problem. I'm going on the graveyard shift tomorrow, so maybe after getting a couple hours' worth of sleep, I'll try that... That &?$*?%$ thing is really stuck good to the paint, I really hope I can get it off...

Update!

Bought myself a clay bar today, and after washing the car I went to work on the paint drops..

It works, well, kinda. To remove a small paint drop, it takes between 4 and 7 minutes per spot, and I have literally thousands of them.

I can see the red paint getting into the clay, but the larger paint drops are taking a couple of eternities to remove.

I'm out of ideas, I really thought the clay would work, but not that slow... Leaves the aint shiny though!

2000 wet grit sandpaper. lightly go over the areas, and buff back up to shine.

Take a brand new safety razor blade, wet the area and gently draw it against the paint with the blade pointed toward you. It should scrape off the red drops, just like shaving.

Afterwards you can take it to the body shop and get it repainted, if you still dont like it.

I have some 2000 grit somewhere, I'll try that... even though I hate the idea of putting sandpaper on my 2005 paint.. Oh well...

I've been able to remove many of the larger paint spots by using a (gasp!) sharp blade. I used the blade to remove most spots on the windshield, and I decided to try it on the bottom of the bumper where an error wouldn't show much, and it worked very well. The factory paint is flawless, and the blade just picks up the red paint drop right off.
I'm sure some of you will want to come up here and beat me () for using this technique, but... at least it didn't damage the paint. I had to stop, it just started raining and the garage is... umm..not car-friendly at this moment.

Thanks for the tip, I'll go see if I can find the 2000 wet paper..
