The problem is that the head gaskets are balanced for driving on the right side of the road. Driving on the left throws them out of kilter. You need to install the gasket "backwards" in the UK in order to compensate. Don't forget to put your muffler bearing on the other way, too! Mine failed because I had a Euro-spec bearing that didn't work on US roads.

That's an interesting theory. Never thought about the muffler bearing. Wonder if there's a How To on that. Maybe you could drive on the left if you go in reverse? We'll need to check out the Aussie site to see if they have the same problem

It's actually pretty important. Here's a video about them.
