If the spark plugs where not tight enough and allowed some air into the cylinder, could that cause an O2 sensor to go bad?

I take it you have an O2 sensor code saying that it is too lean?

perhaps you really ARE running lean, IE air is leaking in to the system.

I doubt its where the spark plugs are, though.
