Hi- I bought my daughter a '95 Contour with the 2.0 Zetec and Auto Trans. I've known the car for about 4-years and it never had a problem with overheating. The waterpump went on it just b-4 I bought it and was replaced. It was ran hot a couple of times so I expected to change the head gasket but the oil+antifreeze are clean so Ive not touched it yet. The problem is the guage say's it's running hot and she claims the CE light has come on. I've replaced the Temp. sensor, sender, resistor in the shroud, and put a 180 stat in it. Also had the rad flushed out. The low speed fan won't come on until it's almost in the Red and I've never had the High speed come on. There is no boiling in the tank and my head tells me that all is OK. How the heck do I know for sure that she's not overheating? I don't want my daughter getting stranded somewhere. Can a car's guages or system go to hell once it's been run hot and not give acurate readings or should I look further? I'm not really sure what to do next! Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
