Japanese companies do that all the time, I don't see people giving them [censored] about it.

ok, enough about the lame job. I see all kinds of cars come through there, and it just amazes me. yea, gas is up, but we're 5-15 cents cheaper than everyone else. people come through with $80k cars, and put in REGULAR gas! guy had a classic, restored Studabaker (sp?), put in regular. woman had a new Mercedes, put in regular. then, someone comes through in a 1991 camry and puts in premium, like, wtf?!
sorry, it just amazes me...and then people coming in see we only have regular/premium, and they usually put in midgrade, and ask me what to put in. "well what is your car supposed to take?"-----"I dunno". "so why do you put in midgrade?"----"isn't it better?"
Premium gasoline is not always better than regular gasoline. Premium gas burns more slowly so performance engines with higher compression ratios require premium gas. High performance engines will have preignition (knock) without premium high octane fuel. Regular gas is just as good as premium for most engines.

My buddies '92 MX-6 takes premium, or it tells him to anyway. It's the 6cyl. and he knows nothing about cars, but I'm not gonna tell him to not use premium, I say if the owners manual reccommends it, use it. Whatev, I try to give him advice on his car all the time (don't take it to a shop to have the oil changed, most of them around here try to peddle the BS: "You don't need your oil filter changed this time." instead, buy the stuff and let me do it) but his dad is overbearing and won't let me do something as simple as change his oil, yet he asks me what I think the cause of noises/problems with his car are.

I don't know why you'd not shop there just because they pay their people well? In my experience they have the lowest prices on stuff of the big retailers around here. That includes: Walmart, Sams Club, BJs wholesale and other places like biglots, kmart and the like. If anything, i'd want to frequent them more since they are helping people out and I am getting good prices while I am at it.
I won't shop there because I don't feel that paying people $10/hr to watch people use their credit cards to fuel their cars is a good use of money. You pay some schlep $10/hr to do nothing and he thinks he's entitled to $10/hr anywhere he works. Then all his friends think they're entitled to $10/hr to do nothing all day. Thats why it's so hard to find decent workers, they hear stories like this and think they should get $10/hr as a starting position. Then they do a half assed job when they don't. That's my opinion which will not change so don't bother debating.
dude, you've gotta be jealous or something. why does this piss you off so damn much? not only do you think I'm a "schlep", but you seem to think this is the first job I've had or something, like I don't know what it's like to work? I've had jobs paying me $7/hr where I worked my ass off only to be treated like crap.
look, I GAURANTEE 100% without a doubt if you applied at costco, said "any position available", and they called you saying we have a job that pays $10/hr, gauranteed 25 hrs/week or more, and you came to find out that you really don't do much at all, you'd be all over it like you're all over this thread. the first week there I worked inside, and worked my ass off. now, I'm out at the gas station, and there simply isn't a long list of responsibilities. do I do everything I'm supposed to? damn straight. do I mind being able to sit and chat with people for 90% of my shift, and get paid the best I've ever made at any job? hell no. do I think that you're gonna come back at this post and tell me I'm a good for nothing, lazy bum who's stealing money from America's economy because I'm overpaid for my job? damn skippy

I've read about Costco in several financial magazines. They are a great company that pay their employees well and give good benefits. Despite treating their employees like valued human beings, they still deliver extremely competitive prices to their customers. They are definitely rated a better company than Sam's Club or BJ's Warehouse. I just wish they had Costco around here. I avoid Wal-Mart or Sam's Club with a passion.

Shoot we need a Costco here also. Sounds like a good place, heck good job of making that much just sittin there, wish I made that much, I make $6.85/hr. washing dishes at a Denny's. Now I definalty know they aren't paying me enough. Good luck with the job man it's hard to find a job that pays that well anymore, and something like that too. And packrat, please keep your words to yourself, so you don't start piss fights, this is why the Mods have to lock threads. Take it to PMs or please STFU. Thank you.

What's wrong with America is that most employers do not pay their people enough. It is really hard to live on minimum wage or even $10 an hour in any places. Just because you get by with Wal-Mart paying you $8 doesn't mean everyone can. Try living in the Chicagoland area on $10 an hour and see how far that gets you. Yeah he's not doing much, but first its law that there must be someone there and also, if anything he is doing a security job when it comes down to it. What's wrong with America are the fat cats at the top who will fire 500 employees to get their [censored] company back in the green.
