ok, I recently got a new job: as a gas station attendant. yea, boring as all hell, but they start at $10/hr and 25-30 hrs a week, and all I do is sit there. really, sit and talk to customers (it's the Costco gas station, they start everyone at $10/hr no matter what position).

ok, enough about the lame job. I see all kinds of cars come through there, and it just amazes me. yea, gas is up, but we're 5-15 cents cheaper than everyone else. people come through with $80k cars, and put in REGULAR gas! guy had a classic, restored Studabaker (sp?), put in regular. woman had a new Mercedes, put in regular. then, someone comes through in a 1991 camry and puts in premium, like, wtf?!

sorry, it just amazes me...and then people coming in see we only have regular/premium, and they usually put in midgrade, and ask me what to put in. "well what is your car supposed to take?"-----"I dunno". "so why do you put in midgrade?"----"isn't it better?"

I make 6.50/hr, i get 15hrs/wk TOPS, and i only get paid once a month, premium is $2.68/gal, i've work a whopping 13.5 hours this MONTH... but is still fill with premium mobil 93 octane i got the car, it deserves the right fluids. although gas prices do suck, it took about $30 to get me a little less than 11 gallons when i filled up today

Why would you put in a higher grade than what is called for? It does not matter how much your car costs. If the Ford GT manual told you to put in regular gas would you put in premium anyway since the car cost so much?

If your new Aveo told you to put in premium gas would you put in regular just because it is a cheap car?

I dont know what the Mercedes or the Studabaker need for gas but IIRC older camrys call for premium fuel.

being a gas station attendant is a fun job. I helped my friend out at his gas station for a few weeks and we had a blast.

Its costco. They don't accept cash at the pumps... atleast around here they don't. You gotta pay with a credit card at the pump and they don't sell candy or anything. I think that would be a pretty nice job. I always talk to the attendants when I fill up at costco.
