D2R bulbs have this cover sorta thing on the bulb that contains light from going all over that place, expecially for an open reflector housing like we have. hence the D2R.."R" meaning reflector based, heres a picture of the bulbs I have, notice the cover over them
D2S bulbs pretty much dont have the cover thing and therefore are used in projectors. You SHOULD NOT USED D2S in reflector based housing, my kit came with D2S bulbs and I tested out just to see how the beam was, you can seriously KILL someone with the beam D2S produces in a reflector. D2S are strictly for projectors and it should remain that way, heres a pic of the D2S my kit came with, I sold the bulbs and bought the D2R's pictured above.
and please people, dont be stupid and buy kits with D2S bulbs, you can seriously cost harm to oncomming traffic. Hopefully all this info. helps
btw..this is my kit I'm running..Phillips 4100K w/D2R Phillips bulbs
