Turning on the A/C at high speed when it hasn't been used for a while can be a problem on any car. If it has been used in the last week or two, there should be no issue.
Personally, if I turn on the A/C at freeway speed, I throw in the clutch and allow the engine to idle down before swithing the A/C on. Then I gently rev match before reingaging the clutch. I'm sure that this is overkill.
