The ATX&MTX cupholders are interchangable. I took the duals out of an ATX console in a junkyard and dropped em in my MTX. You can get it into reverse but not with a big cup in there. The tolerances are tight which is probably why they only came with one. I don't use them both enough so it isn't a problem shifting. I just wanted to be cool.

Nope. My '95 has only one holder.

I will be getting my console tomorrow. I found it at a junk yard in Kentucky for $40 + shipping. It is out of a '95 MTX. It is even tan in color to match my interior. Hopefully it is not all jacked up.
I will keep everyone posted on how to install it, and maybe I will be able to get some pictures up. I would reall like to see anyone else's that has done this...
I plan on eventually putting some gauges (oil, water temp) in the cubby hole below the radio.
Later, Patrick How did you locate your console? I've been looking for one for a while now. All the local wrecking yards don't have a Contour/Mystique. Dion 98 SVT

Dion - I went to www.copartfinder.com Then I just browsed through all the 95-97 contours and looked for ones with a MTX. Then, I called the salvage yard and found out if they still had the center console in them. I found one in Kentucky, which is pretty close, because I live in Ohio. I got lucky because I found one with the correct color and everything. I should be getting it today, so I will let you guys know how it looks. I might be able to post some pictures of it too. Patrick

Ok, I got the console today. It is a little beat up.
The ebrake boot is ripped, and the cupholder is broken. All in all, not too bad for $50 I guess. I will try to use the ebrake boot from my stock console, and buy a new cupholder.
Does anyone know what I have to do to wire up the lighted cigarette lighter? Does the SVT lighter have the correct plug on it, and I would just have to plug it in?
Later, Patrick

Well, I got the console.
I have cleaned it all up, and even replaced the ebrake boot with my old shift boot.
I don't think I am going to put it in the car after all. I don't love it that much. The old one isn't too bad, and I am pretty lazy!
If anyone wants to buy it, let me know. I will let it go for $50. That is what I paid for it with shipping.
It is tan out of a '95 MTX. It is very clean now. I washed all the parts. The cup holder is broken but can be replaced easily. The little light that lights the cig. lighter has a broken clip on it, but can be replaced or fixed. Other than that it is good...
Let me know if you are interested.

As far as cup holders go, it was one cup for the MTX and two for the ATX. Up until 97 when I believe they went to the pull style cup holder (bought one when my cup holder broke). It is bogger and much more useful than the pop up holders.
