Does the pre '98 console have cupholders?

I found one at a salvage yard, but I was wondering if I will loose my two cupholers...

Where are those pictures anyway???

Thanks,
Patrick

Ok, I found this on the CEG site.
http://www.contour.org/mods/modsfaq.pl?Aesthetic:Interior#Console%20retrofit

However, it looks like Dan's page is not there any more.

Any help with this would be very appreciated.

I am still dying here...are there cupholders in the pre '98 console???

Thanks,
Patrick

You will lose your 2 cup holders! There is one cup holder in my console on my '95. It is one of the "pop up types". If you have an ATX I think there were 2 pop up holders on them. Don't know if the ATX console will fit a MTX, I dought it.

AFAIK, the only difference is the shift boot/trim ring (MTX) or gear indicator panel (ATX). The hole is the same for both, and should be interchangeable.

I saw Antonio's new console last friday. Looks pretty good. He has 2 of the flip-up cup holders. I believe that the 95 models had two flip-ups and the 96-97 (I used to have a 97) have only one.

The flip up cup-holders are almost as useless as the 98+, where the 98+ are too big to hold anything, these are too small and not particularly sturdy. You can get a soda can in there, and a small size fast food drink, but anything bigger is pushing it.

Sweet. At least it will have some type of cup holder.

I will be getting my console tomorrow. I found it at a junk yard in Kentucky for $40 + shipping. It is out of a '95 MTX. It is even tan in color to match my interior. Hopefully it is not all jacked up.

I will keep everyone posted on how to install it, and maybe I will be able to get some pictures up. I would reall like to see anyone else's that has done this...

I plan on eventually putting some gauges (oil, water temp) in the cubby hole below the radio.

Later,
Patrick
