They should've kept the Contour/Mystique alive instead of selling the lame looking cheap Focus. I would take the Contour anyday over a Focus. Even the Contour GL looks better than the base model Focus.

This is what the Contour would've looked like if it was still here???

personally i like calling my car a modeo in an euopean accent it just sounds classy wanna go for a ride in the mondeo ehh seriously i love every thing about te mondeo including the fact that theres a diesil option i like diesils

not only that granted the fuel cost a little more but your getting 50% more economy out of it alot of company's are considering putting diesils in cars around 2007 but ford should have been ahead on this

i don't know if this apply's to much but heres a shot

I found this interesting tid-bit of info on another site and not sure where it come from or how much truth there is to it, maybe someone here can help with this.

Mercedes-Benz may be the first automaker to reveal an aggressive North American strategy for diesel engines, but it probably wonâ??t be the last.

More fuel-saving diesel engines are expected to be introduced starting around 2007. Thatâ??s because low-sulfur diesel fuel â?? with 15 parts per million of sulfur instead of the current 500 parts per million â?? will become available nationwide in the fall of 2006. The change will help diesels meet stricter emissions standards.

Hereâ??s the diesel outlook for several automakers:

â?? BMW: The X5 SUV will get a diesel in the 2007 model.

â?? Chrysler group: A new diesel-powered version of the Jeep Liberty is selling above expectations. DaimlerChrysler is considering diesels for the Chrysler 300 sedan and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

â?? Ford Motor Co.: Ford has formed a North American diesel team that is integrating diesels into cars and trucks. The Ford F-150 pickup and Focus sedan are candidates for a diesel.

â?? General Motors: Charles Freese, GMâ??s head of diesel engineering, says light trucks and SUVs will be the focus of the companyâ??s diesel efforts. Meanwhile, GM is limited in the number of Duramax V-8 truck diesels it can build at its capacity-constrained Moraine, Ohio, engine plant. GM could source smaller displacement diesels from Europe.

â?? Honda: A diesel Accord is being considered for North America.

â?? Nissan: The Titan pickup is a strong candidate for a diesel, either from a U.S. engine source, such as International Truck and Engine Corp., or from Japan.

â?? Toyota: The Tundra pickup is considered a likely candidate for a diesel. Toyotaâ??s diesel plans should be clearer once production starts at its San Antonio truck plant next spring.

******Btw mods you may move this to the Ford vs forum if you feel it would be better suited there. Thanks

but that deals with trucks though but once we get there smaller version hopfully will migrate to the cars
