I just changed mine today. I started getting the flickering battery light when the revs got around 6k. What a pain. This job would definitely be easier if you had a lift. I decided to go the route of removing the y-pipe to get at it; I did read Ray's how-to, which was very helpful, but I put on a new y-pipe not that long ago, so I knew it would be an issue removing it. It took about 4 hours to do by myself and I've got two nice cuts on my hands as a reward. I hope I never have to change one again.
