If you go through the "Build Your Own" at Ford.com, toward the end of the option selection process there is this:

Manual Transmission with V6 Engine

So, let ye voices be heard me hardees....

Personally, it's gonna take an SVT version to tickle my berries....

It's been posted and said that Ford/SVT has expressed interest in the Fusion.

While I'm no fan of NASCAR, I respect the talent of the teams and drivers involved. Like any racing, it takes gobs of engineering, technical, and driving expertise to turn a "spec silhouette" into a winning combination. Optimizing a car/driver to hang it out over the edge lap after lap...there's nothing unreal about the competition, here.

Just bores me to tears, though, going round in circles for hours on end in what I consider boring cars. I'd much rather watch Grand Am Cup or SWC.

RogerB,

You should keep watching Grand Am Cup . . . its the best racing series out there but I'm not biased or anything.

And Chad, I was referring to your assumption of a time frame for such a car should it be produced. The Contour took 4 years before SVT released its version. The new Cobra/Shelby GT500 will be 2 (model) years. The last Lightning was 4 years after the intro of that body style truck as well.

Heck, I work on the Fusion full time now, and I still don't know any more than you guys what SVT is planning for it, if anything.

Too bad it will probably end up being an auto too... That is, if it even happens.

I would (my opinion here) find it hard to belive SVT would produce this car to be completly opposite of MANY cars in it's class and have it as only an auto. IF they went the auto route... I could see some sort of tap shift being a part of the package.

That is possible, I just have this nagging feeling that they are gonna screw it up somehow; i.e., the ATX. If SVT puts the ATX in the Fusion with paddle shift, that would be better. However, if they did such, I have the feeling, it would have a redundancy and still shift for you as you near readline...

That makes sense (unfortunatly))... but Pontiacs Tap Shift does not have that "safety" feature... which is nice. *HOPEFULLY* they will atleast follow that pattern.. bare-
minimum.
