I will be the first to admit i dont know that much about tires, but i had dunlop sp8000's on my tour (225/50/16) and i enjoyed them... except for the damn rubbing... but excellent grip (atleast they felt good for the way i drove) and they looked nice.
so just wondering why you don't seem to like them?
I've owned one set of dunlops, they were noisey compared to other tires for the car they were installed on & they didn't last as long as I expected from the treadwear rating.
I have 2 problems with Goodyears: they wear out quickly, and I've had tread separation & bubbling problems with more than one set of tires on my old Mercurys. They'll never see another dollar from me.
Kumho tires I have not much experience with. I have a new set on my daughters Contour. They're soft & quiet. They don't seem to have a very good sidewall so handling is a bit like driving with a snowplow on the front bumper, & from the reviews on tirerack.com I'll expect them to not live up to their treadwear claims.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Most goodyears last a while. Musta been the particular tire/car. I also don't see too much tread separation or other problems, atleast no more so than any other tire. And when I do see it, it's usually an older tire.

We need a list of tires "worth the money"
I'd contribute:
Cheapo Summer tire: Fuzion ZRi, Hankook Z212, Pricier Summer tire: Toyo T1-R (T1-s), BFG KDW-2, Falken Azenis
Cheapo all-season: Kuhmo ASX (these actually seem to be decent) Pricer All-season : Falken Zeix 512

I have a set of Hankooks on my 95 and love them MY god do they stick nice. 186 top speed, aa traction I can take a clove leaf ramp at 50 with no fuss no squaeel nothing. I would swear by them but I unfortunatley have to sell off my rims and all now so I will miss them when they are gone.

Heh, isn't that cute. Back before I valued my life as much as I do now, I would regularly take In-town turnarounds at 40+ Mph on my old, decrepit General XP2000A4's. Not the big ones, the ones that go under TWO lane highway underpasses. No big deal man.

So far seems to be the new fuzion Zri's
hey Kremit, have you checked out Firestones Firehawk Indy 500's yet? My friend put some on his Firebird, and the thing handles like a whole different beast now. They are pretty soft to the touch, kinda like pencil eraser. The only bad side to them is that they leave black marks all over the driveway just like my BFG's.
And they even have white letters on one side....

I can take the tight ones (there's some legal minimus raduis) at 55 with my Fuzions, 60 after the Aussie bar got a little weight off the front. And that's downhill: uphill is more, but I can't do it in 5th gear, so I just back off with oil starvation in mind. And yes, no squealing at all. I'd get an alignment. Oh, and go to a skidpad at a test-n-tune so you can calculate lateral Gs. Also: what size? I'm very anxious for these tires to die (I'm trying hard!) so that I can get the Z212. Reviews would be great: turn in, breakaway, heating, rain, etc. I've been following the miata.net thread (6 pages now...), but things can be different on lighter cars.

I'll agree that Kumhos are horrible. I have had a set of Kumho ECSTA Supra's on my SVT for the past year and I hate them. Flexing is the worst on any tire I have ever owned. They need to be replaced and I am leaning strongly towards the BF Goodrich g-force KDW-2. They just look mean.
