we just got a totaled grand prix in at the body shop the other day. was sporting 4 brand new zri's. driver said that he wasnt going fast, but there was standing water in the lanes. car hydroplaned, and flipped through a fence (he was ok except for a cut on his arm). anyway, would make me think again about zri's if you see lots of rain. granted, who knows how fast he was really going be he didnt get any tickets associated with speeding. . . . hydroplaning can also happen on any tire if you go fast enough, so take that for what its worth.
i like the toyo proxy 4's so far. lots of grip, and fine so far in the wet weather. may be worth a little extra if you can afford them. stazi could probably tell you a little more about them since he had them longer and pushed them harder than i have. he seemed to like them from what i read, however.

IMO, it's worth the extra $5 apiece to give them a try. I can honestly say I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I jsut found the Proxy 4's in 225/45/17 for 94 a tire and yokohama Avs Es 100's for 115 same size
EDIT: Hey Chris, hydroplaning as you say can happen with any tire at speeds as low as 30, espicially if it's "deep" standing water.

Care to tell us where you found them that cheap? You'd be hard-pressed to hydroplane on a set of T1-S's. I did Mid-Ohio in the pouring rain and the track was an absolute mess. The Cobra held 115mph on the back straight no problem and I've done 110+mph in massive rainstorms in the Contour. They are absolutely great tires. Well, good luck with whatever you get and show us pics!

Agree! I'll be going back to these if my current tire gets discontinued!

Good think you said "most"!
I would also avoid Dunlop tires unless you can find some of the Super Sport Race tires that I've got. I can honestly say I've never felt a tire like this.

I agree with avoiding dunlop/goodyear affordable tires.... now their non-affordable tires are pretty awesome.
I'm putting fuzions on both my cars next week. Will give a review soon after.

I've seen the T1-R's on Edgeracing.com for a little bit now but I haven't checked sizes. Check them out!

check the pricing on spyeng.com they are very reasonable. i emailed them just to confirm the pricing. 1010tires is charging like easily double what spyeng is charging on some sizes (thats not an exageration).

I will be the first to admit i dont know that much about tires, but i had dunlop sp8000's on my tour (225/50/16) and i enjoyed them... except for the damn rubbing... but excellent grip (atleast they felt good for the way i drove) and they looked nice.
so just wondering why you don't seem to like them?
