i guess its why most mids and highs are oval because it does not matter that much SQ is affected but not by much. if you buy really high end mid/high speeakers they will probably be round. they reproduce evenly all around the cone
and subs are round.
ruh-roh! stillwater and xtant had better stop making those funny looking woofers then!!

thank you to those who told me how to fit what i planned instead of suggesting something that i never intended to use in the first place.
anyways, i went to go buy pioneer 6x9's tonight but they were sold out. theyre getting them back in on friday and i will probably install them this weekend.

I apologize for offering a better, cheaper alternative.

i dont want to have to make mounting brackets for components or have to run extra wires for the crossover. 6x9's are better than my original 6x8's that i was going to use and are more than sufficient for my application

Sorry, I didn't notice you specifying that anywhere. I just saw you mention that oval speakers were cheaper, so I gave you a better sounding, less expensive model. If minimal work was more important than price or quality, i would have recommended some coax drivers.

dnew, I am still in the process of figuring out what I want do to for fronts. I was looking at what you suggested and I had 2 quick questions. 1 - I notice the larger speaker is 7", i am pretty sure it will, but it will put out much more bass then the 5.25 components currently. 2 - how hard is it to build a crossover, I have never done it before. Thanks!
I am just trying to build a really decent sounding system now.

I use that midbass in my ranger, and I couldnt' be happier for the price paid. Strong midbass presence that seems to defy its 2mm xmax. They easily outperform my 6.5" mb quart mids from my contour on the low end. At the top end, they aren't quite as detailed, but again, for the price they are good. My only beef with them is the frame is kind of thin metal compared to higher quality drivers. If you have a soldering iron, crossovers couldn't be easier.

I may end up purchasing them later this evening and attempting to build a crossover this weekend when i install my amps and sub. You know any good places that show how to build one? Or will google just tell me...
