3. The original odometer may or may not have failed and the Metric one was intentionally changed to the US one to make it seem like it had less Km than it really does; makes it fraud in this case.

scenario 1 would be best.
scenario 2 would be almost as good, except he didn't mention it.
and scenario 3 is probably the case.

Man, I hope everything works out. Let us know what happens. However, just out of curiousity, did you pay $11k for it with 125k kms, that's like almost 80k miles. That's damn expensive. Good luck, man.

10k, for 2 sets of rims and tires. Yes expensive, rare in BC, yes. I held out for 8 months looking for one.

And today I will find out everything.

Is that $10k in U.S. or Canadian money?

I don't see how swapping it to miles from km to make it "look" like it has less miles is fraud, because if you do the math,it's still the same amount of milage, just in different units.

Plus, anyone with a brain, such as Mike who bought the car, noticed right away that it is calibrated in miles after driving it and comparing fuel milage with distances etc.

If I were in the situation,I would definetly like to figure out why and how this happened and get it straightened out. If I were the seller of the car,I would go out of my way and help the buyer.

Kind of like when I sold my Mystique,I was going to sell it certified and e-tested,and the buyer paid me the asking price for the car,and I dropped it off at the shop to get certified. Later that day the buyer called me back and said to meet him at the shop. Over $2000 in repairs was needed to the car and he wanted to back out. I said no problem, gave him his money back and went the same day to the dealer and traded it in for my Contour. I helped the guy out and didn't leave him in the dark or say "too bad,it's your problem now,you already paid me." I didn't know the car needed that kind of work, but knew it needed brakes and tires atleast. But it ended up needing tie rods, balljoints, brakes and tires, new wires, and a couple other things for safety.

Oh well....good luck with getting everything straightened out Mike.

It's fraud because the car was advertised for sale with 124,500 km, but it actually had 124,500 miles.

See if someone can run an OASIS check for you? It will tell of any service done by a Ford/ L&M dealer. This woudl include stuff such as a cluster replacement.

Good luck!

I talked to Ford, nice guy, but no answers.

I'm just going to confront the previous owner and say 'look, i bought the car for this much based on the milage, something has to be settled here"

and go from there.

If not I might small claims this.

more to come soon.
going to call now.
