Ive searched everypost on here pertaining to the 32 trouble code related to clockspring. Every thread ends up saying take it to the dealer. Is this job really that difficult? I figure disconnect the battery, wait an hour, remove airbag, remove steering wheel, replace clockspring, reassemble and your done. Is there something in this job that makes it so difficult to perform. I dont want to pay some chump at the dealer $400 to do this job.

$400!!! It's so easy to replace. 2 torx on the back and remove the airbag. It's right there. Just unplug the connections and pull the ring. Install is opposite. Maybe a 20 minute job. Make sure you get the correct year though. The connections changed from 98 to 99.

15 minutes wait is usually good enough to then work on the clockspring.

Just a heads up. I had this code on my 95 when I had a battery on its way out. You may want to check your battery before going through the trouble. Once I replaced the battery, I never saw the code again. The code was intermittent.

Thanks for the heads up Zack.

I actually already replaced the battery last sunday because I read in the FAQ link that this the first possible culprit. Its been 4 days since and the airbag light still flashes from time to time - it doesn't on some trips though. So I figure there something wrong with the clockspring.

Did your airbag light issue go away immediately after battery replacement or did you have to wait a while?
