Thanks for the responses, guys! You know... I think I am going to go ahead and put the logo on my car, rice or not. You can write rice all day to me, even put it in caps if you like to, but all that really matters to me in the end is that I like it. I am not insulted by challenging opinions (just without the use of threats and profanity- those are just childish expressions), after all... if we all liked the same things, there would be no need for menus and we would all eat burgers, fries, and drink Coke. There wouldn't be any holding of the lettuce, or mustard, etc. We would all buy the same make of car in the same color with the same engines (see where I am going with this?) And Steve, I actually was thinking of putting Cobra emblems in place of the SE badges. Once again, in its day a Cobra was a Cobra... Carroll Shelby introduced it to Ford as its own line. It had nothing to do with the Mustang. It had a Ford 427 engine in it and was a 2 seater, and came topless with a rollbar. A Mustang Cobra has a 4.6, a roof, and seats 5. The person who modified the car, and slapped those badges on the Mustang from Ford is no more of a BS artist than I am. If hopping up a Mustang warrants the right to slap a Cobra emblem on it, then so does modifying my Contour. I don't care if Ford didn't make 2,000 or whatever for other people to be like me... so what? To all of you who have a pioneering idea, don't be afraid to express it and think for yourself. Different is interesting and unique is fun. Once again, thanks guys!

"Keep them guessing" is a rice-boy excuse, BTW. Like "I'm gonna put type-r badges on my Prelude, it'll keep them guessing".
There is a subtle difference here. The Type-R and M badges represent a substantial increase in performance. The bullit badge really doesn't. It hasn't been the label of a performance marque in the past, and even now we have established its basically just cosmetic enhancements to the Mustang GT. If anything, it's a homage to the movie - so who cares if he wants to put bullit badges on his car, it's his car and not yours. You may find it in poor taste, and I'm not going to be putting any bullit badges (or any other badges for that matter) on my car anytime soon, but I don't think anyone should be intimidated into not doing to their car what aesthetically pleases them.

While I do believe my words were slightly harsh (though nothing that is not allowed on Television) I still stand by them, given the fact that the phrase I used rarely refers to actual physical violence when used in the context of the internet tech forums.
That said, I beleive I am a bit more of an authority on the 2001 Bullitt Mustang than any other regular (or even casual observer) on this board (and anyone who is more of an authority on the car, I know, or I know who they are) and as such I can say that is a vast improvement in performance over the GT, in every aspect, and for someone who has never driven one to even begin to tell me about its performance is laughable. Yes its true that "some designer" at Ford slapped some retro stuff on a Mustang GT, but that was a show car, and response was so good, the Mustang Team decided to go ahead and make the car as a production model. I will not list the changes or the specs of the car, as I'm sure you have read them, and still ignorantly claim it to be not much of a performance improvement. The Bullitt Mustang was a very short program within Ford Motor Company and it took herculean efforts by a large number of people in almost every area of its development to keep the program from getting canned at every turn. The Bullitt Mustang was a labor of love from every level of the Mustang design team and putting a Bullitt badge on your Contour mocks the long hours and days put in by every member of the design team, many of whom I call friend. Put the badge on if you want, because you think that what was done on the Bullitt was no big deal, I guess what they say is true, Ignorance is bliss.
It's all about balance.

First of all let me set something straight. You can pour all the credentials you want out at me, but they do not mean a thing. The only proof I have of who you are is something you sat down at a keyboard and typed, and do not quote me as calling you a liar, but I can do the same thing behind my keyboard as well. I judge personal integrity after meeting the person face to face and get to know them for awhile. Until then my opinions of them are kept to myself. Secondly, I will be very careful when I put my badges on to let people know that my car is a Contour. I know that the four doors are easy to miss sometimes and that my car resembles that of a Mustang. Wouldn't want anybody thinking I have a Bullitt edition Mustang or a Mustang Cobra. So I will be careful. Lastly, I do not mock or take the hard work put in by Ford as a joke, as I alone cannot reproduce what Ford has done with this great looking Mustang. I am not ignorant to the performance gains either.... note that I did not say that cosmetics was the only thing that Ford did with this car. These responses prove my point that we assign so much power to words and symbols that we have actually put cars like the Bullitt Mustang up on a pedestal and started treating them with honor and precedence and made them into a god for no other reason than the label. If this Mustang were the same but without the Bullitt logos and title, nobody would give a second thought to my putting "Bullitt" on the car. It is ok to retro fit a fuel door (with a mustang on the inside of it) off of a Bullitt Mustang, or maybe even the rims too if a 5 lug pattern were adapted to the Contour. It is ok to swap out SE bumpers and side skirts for SVT bumpers and side skirts, but the moment you put three letters on (referring to SVT) people will jump all over you like there is no tomorrow. I say let the car speak for the owner and their tastes. What I am doing is not deception- any idiot can tell that my car is not a real Cobra or a real Bullitt edition, and if they can't- well, I probably don't want to be talking to them anyways. If Ford really felt that the labels Bullitt and SVT and the Cobra emblem had so much power that they did not belong on any other car but the real deal, and that any other use would defame them, why do they offer it to ANY customer who walks through their door? They restrict the color changing paint, so I think it is in their hands to do this with the special edition emblems too.

WOW this is a change, usually I'm the one in or out of the frying pan in here :p Well let me put in .02 cents worth. There is only one Bullitt and thats the Mustang very nice job they did on it too, love those gauges That being said I can't see putting those emblems on the Tour, it is "rice" as its called. The Mondeo emblems on the Tour are not as much as a stretch as the Bullitt logo or the GTR emblem that I seen on a Mustang GT I seen a couple weeks ago that ALSO had a SVT emblem on it...talk about RICE...SVT,GTR and Mustang GT come on Can we see a pic of the Tour thats getting the Bullitt treatment, I'm curious as to what the rest of the car looks like as well? Somewhat of a hypocrite then with your big defense. Just let Rara have his opinion and you, yours.
