"turn over" - crank the engine. The fuel lines are pressurized (fuel pump) and if you don't de-pressurize the lines, the gas is liable to "shoot out" (rather than drip) when you unclip the fuel filter from the lines.

gas will not shot out when you remove the lines but the filter will be full and you will have to deal with the gas that you spill from that and the line. not to much comes from the lines. I just put the caps from the new filter on the old one before I pull it out then drain the gas into a gas can

Maybe I should have used the term "squirt out" instead of "shoot out" but I would definitely not advise anyone to delete the "depressurizing the fuel lines" step before removing the fuel pumps.

I believe this thread is about the fuel filter.

When I did mine, I followed the "How-to" from the main site, and didn't have much trouble. I did get a face full of gas (which was fun) but that's because I was having some trouble getting the old clips off and my face was right there. Get the car way up there so you have some room to work.

Bah! Pu$$ies. I just pull the 2 clips and loosen the clamp. Get a little gas but no big deal. Takes 5 minutes.

it's so easy, i'm usually not even finished smoking a cigarette by the time the filter is changed!

I'm also new to this and actually did this fuel filter change this past Friday. Just follow the HOW-TO and you won't have any problems. It literally takes 5 minutes or less. Scale of difficulty is not even a 1!

Well you could put it in backwards if you are a complete dolt.
