Looking at dumping the wifey's Grand Cherokee (halfway through her lease). Provided it's not too painful to break the lease, or find someone to assume the lease, we're going to take a look at the Ford Freestyle as a replacement (FWD Limited). With the Employee Pricing coming tomorrow, it may be a good time to pull the trigger.

So what's everyone's opinion on the Freestyle? Anyone know someone who owns one, and what do they think of it? A little leery of first year Ford's (my '95 Contour SE springs to mind). Would probably do an extended warranty if we go that route.

She like's to sit up high as a primary concern. I'd still like to get her to look at the Mazda 6 wagon if they offer the employee pricing out for Mazda too. If not, I can see how S-plan pricing is (looks like it would be $19.5k plus options as of today). TIA.

Ask Chang, he has one...

Overall, I think it's a really good crossover SUV that could use a few more ponies.

The Mazda6 wagon has the same engine (slightly different tuning) and well... you don't need me to extol the virtues of the Mazda6...

Too heavy for 203 hp, CVT or not.
Sort of looks downmarket inside.
Throw in the Duratec 3.5 and the whole equation changes.

I would prefer a used Audi Allroad personally...

Yeah, and have it blow up on the next day and be worth less and it already was when you bought it. Honestly, go drive a Freestar. It's not that slow of a vehicle, but for some reason everything has to be a sports car...I happen to like the styling. It looks much more brawny than the 6 and many of the newer wagons.

I put 13k miles in 6 months on a Pacifica and liked it a lot. Just wished I had gotten different options. Pacifica should be cheaper than a similarily equiped Freestyle with DCX's Family program. The Freestyle has more cargo space behind the 3rd row, but otherwise is similar.

Two coworkers have Freestyles and like them a lot. I considered getting another Pacifica, but minivan was cheaper and larger inside.

Might be our next car. The new Mazda5 might also be our next car, though.

Based on what exactly would you say the Audi would blow up and be worth nothing?

They also have an allroad 4.2 V8...no twin turbos to blow up!

I like the Mazda5...efficient transportation.

So much for that. Wouldn't mind it being down on power, since the wife's I6 Grand Cherokee isn't exactly a dragster. But before they were offering 0% for 60 months on the Freestyle. That expired yesterday, and now the deal is 2.9% for 60 mos at the employee discount pricing ($700 below invoice). Essentially it works out to $15 a month more than last month assuming paying invoice if I negotiated the deal. No thanks Ford - we'll wait.

this Ford Employee Discount is REALLY pushing me... if I get a good next job im seriously continplating selling the contour and buying a new Focus. I could get a nice new car that I have always wanted for dirt cheap.
