I think the F150's are attached to the bumper, though I could be wrong but I think they are. , But. his says he has a heavy-duty hitch, so I guess that rules out what I just said.

the F150 used to have a tow ball on the bumper i removed it and replaced it with a hitch bolted to the frame when i bought my donor car and had to go pick it up no worries about the hitch coming off as for the weight in the bed...its not allowed i tried that already of course im gonna drop it in 4 low and drag his ass

Two guys tried this once near me. One had a manual F-150, one had an auto Chevy. They both had 4 wheel drive and big V-8s. They held right in place for a bit, with the Chevy guy just flooring it, and the Ford guy slipping the clutch. Eventually, he slipped it a little more to get the revs up and then let off in an attempt to get moving. The clutch grenaded. It had gotten so hot the throwout bearing fell apart and everything went to pieces. The pressure plate, now red-hot, shot out through the hood. All the wires were neatly cut, and the hood was slightly melted where it came through. It landed on the pavement and melted a little pool of patch tar.
Lesson #1: Never try to do this in a manual if you can't get moving or spin the tires!

dear god, thank you for havin the common sense they do not have. NEVER EVER us a chain in any type of pulling or towing of great weight or stress. Once that chain breaks, decapations or missing body parts are not far behing. Use some kinda tow strap, or snatch strapp. and make sure the straps are looped on teh end, not hooked.

home depot has tow straps with(iirc) a 25000lbs capacity that should do the trick for this silly contest. a couple of those straps and you should be ok in that dept. isn't this your fathers truck? and if so what is he gonna say should you break something?

Don't forget to raise your rear suspension 4" just for this contest.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Wow! 351W vs 4.7 Magnum. Now that's a competition! From what I know of the Windsor, it is a fairly powerful, balanced engine. The Mopar, however is not to be taken lightly. The 4.7 is the DIRECT replacement to the Chrysler 318(5.2L) LA-block V8 that stayed in production from the mid-60's to 2002. Even then it was a beefed up 273. The funny thing about the LA-series of V8's is the sheer number of sizes and variations of it(the V6 in the Dakota is actually a 318 with two cylinders cut off!). Plus, they were nearly indestructible. Chrysler aimed to best the aging V8 with the 4.7 replacing the 318, and the 5.7 HEMI replacing the 360(5.9L, also an LA block). The 4.7 makes somewhat low horsepower ratings(around 230), but it's torque, very much like it's predecessor, is monstrous for the small size of the engine. As in well above a 300 lb-ft rating. Plus, Chrysler knows darn well how to make a good transmission(they OWN Jeep for heavens sake). The Windsor will have a struggle on it's hands, especially with the miles it has on it. Watch out man, that Dodge will haul! I should know, my mom has an '03 Durango!

People do this here in Ohio too, I'm thinking the F-150. Reasons, bigger, better engine (this the fuel injected 351 or the carburated 351?) more torque and HP. Also are you doing this in 4wd, or 2wd, if 4wd, that may help a little the F-150 4wd is good for pulling. I seen my dad's old 4wd F-150's (300 4.9 6 cylinder 5spd, one was auto) pull some big ass trees, heavier then that Durango I'm sure (except the Durango will be pulling back). I also seen a old mid to late 80s 2wd Ranger pull a tree it was funny. Got the job done too. Also it's your dad's truck, if he knows it's cool, if he don't know, not cool, I wouldn't do it.
