after doing some research on how much fluid the tranny holds im a bit confused. Everybody seems to be only using 3 quarts, but i have 4 quarts in already and because its not leaking out i assume i need more. Do i fill untill it reaches the level of the fill plug or to the level of the drain plug? I would assume its the fill plug on the front of the tranny.

You don't happen to have it on jackstands at the front do you? If so, put the rear up too so that it is level. The fill till spill method only works if the car is level. If the car is already level... I'd put in 3 quarts and stop.

There is no possible way you got more then 2.6-2.8qts in a non-revised MTX with it being level. PERIOD.
It either leaked out somewhere or it's not sitting level. It's as simple as that.

the little tube i use to put fluid in is big enough were, with the tube in the fill hole fluid wont come out. I have to take the hose/tube out, then the overflow will come out. not sure but that may be your prob.

I think I might have overfilled mine. It wasn't level when I did the fill till spill thing. It doesn't make much sense though. I had the front up on jack stands and did the fill till spill. It took just about 3 bottles of synchromesh, and that is just about what it is supposed to have. It wasn't leaking anywhere and it wasn't level, but it took the right amount????

I did the same thing. Level the car and drain the excess fluid: it'll feel much better!
