Laura, I can say this much, I came out pretty good, could have been worse. I didn't get taken too badly, given how well her lawyer "fondled" with our debts and assets to make it appear in her favour. No matter what, I had assets, she only had debts, and you know how that works, the person with the assets gets screwed every time.
About the legal system, because I was a responsible spouse, saved lots of money for my kids and me, I was penalized for that, and why, she maxed out her debts, and in the end, I had to pay for half of her debts, again, because of the legal system.
Nice huh, I strived to save, she strived to spend, she has gigantic debts, I still have to pay, and that is even with debts only in her name (ie credit cards). How is that fair?
The law sucks, I still have the remainder of my lawyer's bill to pay.
