When's the party?
Chris's kids are very cool with it. Kind of like the way our family dealt with it when my parents split.
From a kids stand point it was the best thing that happened in our family.
Look out world, Chris has cars and he's not affaird to use em to get women!
Jeff, party is on when the landscaping gets finished. I would like to request your services, as chef of the day (obvious choice ). I hope to be able to arrange a get together soon.
I'll post some pics of my disaster area, hope to see it finished in the next week or so. That reminds me, I have to get a new burner for my BBQ, and some patio/deck furniture too.
Yes, my kids are more than happy to see this happen, as they haven't really had a mother for the past couple (few) years. I can say this much, her loss is my gain, as my kids and I have grown very close to each other, and that is, if only one thing, I could ask of this world. My kids and I have a great relationship, one to which I had hoped for when they were younger, now it's here.
Thanks all.
Chris
PS: Oh yeh, once the driveway is paved this week, I can start taking the SVT out once again. I haven't been able to take it out for almost 2 months since the driveway was excavated, with a 3 to 4 inch drop from garage and sidewalk to current driveway level.

Chris, I'm glad everthing is looking up for you. I never made it a part of my business to ask but I agree that you made the best choice you could. Once I get my car back on the road again we should go for a nice "drive".
PS..My car had it's first boat ride this weekend from Tobermory to South Bay (didn't expect the 2m swells). Put 1100k on the old motor in 3days and now it's time to retire it for good.

My g-d man, this hasn't been done yet! I recall I was supposed to help burn up some winter fuel a while back, but the driveway was the issue. You must be dying if you haven't driven either car in 2 months....... The work van just doesn't cut it!

Jeff, I was able to take the SRT-4 out a couple of times, as it has more ground clearance, and only needed a couple of patio stones to assist it getting out of the garage. As things settle out here, we'll all get together.

It's not an easy time. I've been seperated from my wife for 7 months now. Did the two of you have any childern?
Keep smiling
John.
I tried dozens of times over the years to make amends, to change myself, but she told me so many times, she couldn't forget the past, much of it (the past stories) fabricated, and that she would never let things go. That's the killer of this marriage, not letting go, not coming to comprimises, not speaking to each other about each other.
Chris, omg, it's like we've been sharing wives.
I completely understand were you're coming from. Congrats on keeping the kids. I find that has been the hardest part for me.
Each day gets easier and easier, adn you'll think about 'the way it was..' less and less. More and more you'll put each piece of your life that was missing, back.
It's so far, an interesting journey for me, and i'm sure it will be for you.
Heres to a new future!
Cheers!!
John

John
It's been so long that I have felt the need to separate, that after the papers were signed yesterday, I didn't feel much different other than there is finally closure.
Needless to say, I had already moved on a long time ago, but of course, there is always some lingering feelings, not much but they are still there.

Well, I can't read this whole post and not make a comment of some kind. First of all Chris, congratulations on getting it done so soon (it seems anyway). My separation with her in the house lasted almost 2 years . Without this becoming a woman-hating rant ... I can sympathize with both you and John. Snafu - all I can say is "pre-nup" and even then the law sucks big time when it comes to the kids anyway so you'll get screwed there regardless. We should have a "throw-darts-at-the-ex's-picture" meeting. Did you get atleast 40% custody Chris? Lou

Thanks Lou, and I too feel for all of us that have gone through divorce (male or female).
As far as the custody, I have the kids almost all the time, because my ex wife works such that, they hardly saw her when she lived with us, almost never saw them after I got her to move out. As a percentage, I have them 99% of the time, though they are to be with her every other weekend, 2 weeks in the summer, blah, blah, blah. Saying that, my kids are old enough that if they choose not to go to her or with her, I don't have to force them to go, they can stay with me 100% of the time, as long as I am not the one alienating them from the mother. It's up to the kids to decide, and so far, they stay with me.
That worked out well, being able to struggle with the marriage until the kids were old enough, and I am very happy that it's done (at least I hope so).
