Went to start her this afternoon, starter clicky-ness with lights operational.
Took neg batt cable off, put back on, this time, classic dead battery--chimes slow, power doors arent' working, etc.
Third time--stone cold dead, not a sound when I turn the key.
Buy new battery--old one looked a little haggard, anyway.
Thought it was wierd that car still stone cold dead even with new battery.
Jumpstart car. Starts, runs OK, take it for a little drive, ABS light comes on. Park car back at house after around 20 minutes of car being on, try to start again, stone cold dead.
Alternator? Loose wire? Hints? Help a brotha out?

put the new battery on a charger for a few hours, it is quite normal for a new battery to be uncharged, and an alternator will not charge a battery below a certain point.

What year, mileage, engine and transmission?
How many miles on alternator? Does it have the "new" splash shield installed for the alternator? I would check the positive (to alternator) and negative (to ground) wires on the battery to make sure that it isn't loose.
Also how many miles on the fuel filter?
The ABS light could be unrelated. Any CEL codes? (if you can get it to an Autozone to get it read for free. If not they sell Actron 9125 for $75 or so).
Good luck. Someone else will probably chime in with more help.

It's a 98 with around 103,000 on it, and the stock alternator, as far as I know.
What makes me think it's a good battery is that it didn't slowly die or dim or anything. I parked the car, it was fine (except for the ABS light), but then I turned off the ignition and tried to start it again, and nothing at all-not even a peep.
I did some searching since I posted (I know, I know, it should be the other way around), and I got a bunch of hits that talked about some mega-fuse.

Yup. I sprayed some of that red battery terminal spray stuff all over them, too.

Lights, such as ABS can illuminate (along with other REALLY freaky things) when a battery is very low. windshield wipers on all by theirselves, speedo jumping around, etc...)
I would suspect a faulty/loose connection between your battery and chassis ground, or positive cable.
megafuse would illuminate the charge light, unless your bulb is burnt out, as well (slim-to-none on that, but possible)

you need to buy a temminal cleaner and clean your battery terminals and cables first

Or use an old toothbrush with baking soda solution.
If after getting it "clean" and you are able to get the accessories to go on, check to see if the alternator light is on when you have the key to on without the engine running to confirm if the alternator bulb is still functional. At 100k plus miles, you've had a good run on the alternator. You might have a problem with the alternator without knowing it if the alternator light is blown. But try all cheaper fixes first. The dealer charges something like $600 to change the alternator. Unless you change it yourself.

Fully recharge the battery with a charger. Obtain a meter and measure its voltage, should be 12.6-.8 volts about. Then start your car and measure battery voltage. 14 volts or higher will be present if the charging system is good. If you have less than 12.6 volts, it is not charging, but discharging. Then you should check wiring or alternator. I remember reading the megafuse can cause no charge condition.
