You're also VERY right about using canned air. Not only does an air compressor's air have quite a bit of moisture in it, it also has some oil.
You really don't to make matters worse.
BTW, I just let mine air dry. The contact cleaner dries very quickly. It wouldn't hurt the engine if it got sucked in anyway.
