Thanks guys for the info. Have not had time to work on the car until a few minutes ago and now find that the plot thickens. Dare I say it is getting Mystiqerous?
Here is the latest:
Under the instrument panel on the LH side is a fuse box. Fuse #35 (7.5A) was blown once again. This fuse appears to be for the electric mirrors, interior lights, clock, keyless entry and radio. Not sure what else.
Fuse #29 that FavoriteMystaque mentioned is not a 7.5A but is a 30 amp according to the decal and what is in the slot.
Today I found a really wierd problem after I replaced fuse #35 yet again. Everything works, but now I can't get the key out of the ignition. The only way I can remove the key is to remove the fuse I just replaced, #35. When I remove the fuse I hear a mechanical click from the vicinity of the igniton switch and the key slides out. Put the fuse back and the key locks in. So am forced to leave the fuse out so that my wife can remove the igniton key.
I used a tester to check for power on all the fuses and found that some fuses have no power either side of the fuse even with the engine running. Why would that be and what puts power to these fuses?
I am pretty good at troubleshooting electrical problems but am stumped on this one, particularly as I don't have an electrical diagram.
Don't know if this makes a difference, but this car was made and sold in Mexico.
