I just picked up a 98 Contour SVT (Black).
Name's Adam, I'm 20 and from Saugus, MA.

My car needs a lot of work but after this week I'd love to drive around and meet other SVT'ers.

Plans for this week >>

Plenty of "fix-em-up" work, new tires (My friend works at Town Fair Tire in Danvers if anyone needs tires...!!), re-finishing the wheels, migrating my existing stereo setup from my old car:

2x 12" MTX Subs, JBL 1200W Amp, Avionixx 4 Channel Speaker Amp for my 4x 5by7 Infinitys. Alpine HU CDA-9807 powering 2x Tweeters. 3 Farad Cap, Optima YellowTop.

Anyone in the area good at woodworking? I'd like to build my own sub box but I lack the necessary tools. Please PM for specs.

Well, if you don't already know, Town Fair Tire has a "lowest price guarantee". I believe he can do another 15% off of that. I'll look into it.

My car is sittin in the shop right now being looked at. I hope there aren't too many things wrong, hah, it doesn't run very well at the moment. Once I figure out what is wrong I'll do as much of the work on my own as I can, then I'll have to send it off somewhere.

It has a new motor, new clutch (when I say new I mean about 2k miles on them), new brakes... and many, many more...

July 16th? Hell yeah. Everything should be in good working condition by this Friday. That leaves me plenty of time to personally detail it and hook up my system. How many people usually show up at these meets?

haha, yeah a new motor and clutch are definitely beneficial. let us know wat the shop says because chances are someone on here will know wat to do to fix it, and i'd be more than willing to help out with working on the car. as to the meet, there's a thread in this forum about it and i believe there are about....7 people going? there are more details in the thread but mainly we're going to SVT25's house for a cookout, possibly a drive, and a car show at night. actually, maybe we could meet up beforehand and drive up together

Hell yes. I'm in wakefield all of the time.

So yeah about that work...

I'm putting it into a GOOD SHOP tomorrow morning.

Just "guessing" it needs...

Vac lines checked... there is a leak SOMEWHERE. Hole or two in the exhaust it sounds/smells like. Eww. Need new tires badly (looks like the kid did a burnout every day for 15 mins... argh) Need tranny flush or something, it shifts for crap at the moment. Basic tuneup stuff> oil change, new air filter, new oil filter. Maybe new spark plugs and wires.

Anyone know this shop?

Engines & Components
12 Lothrop Street
Beverly, MA 01915

The previous owner had about $7000 of work done to the car at the above listed shop. I have all of the receipts... I'm beginning to think:

A) the kid who owned the car was not only irresponsible but STUPID
B) the shop who did the work might've done a crappy job

I guess I'll find out all of this tomorrow afternoon *sigh*

Anyhow, I'm still in love with this car and keeping it (as long as the necessary repairs fit within my budget) My stereo is "halfway-installed". Need some fuses. Oops.
