If your gonna get a HI-DEF tv you do not want to get one that is not widescreen. if you do its not true high deg as hi def is 1080i and when you get a non widescreen (4x3) you can only get up to 720p and there are very very very few 720p converters out there. most cable companies dont use 720p they use 480i or 1080i with a 4x3 you can not get 1080i with a widescreen 16x9 you can get 1080i and thats what you want. 720p or 480p is awesome if you have a progressive scan DVD player though. most people by progressive scan dvd players and think they are getting a much better pic but really the only way to do that is if you have a progressive scan tv which is a tv capabile of 480p and 720p
