I picked up the updated 1-2 shift fork (YS4Z-7230-BA) but when I compare it to the current 1-2 fork it looks exactly the same...is that normal or should I take it back for a refund?
FYI I have a revised 01 cougar mtx75.
also will the outter oil seals be ok with 17K or should I change them while I have easy access?

Take it back, it was my understanding that the revised shift forks started comming in the 2000 year. I'm sure others will correct me if I am wrong.

I agree.
IIRC 2000 was the latest revision.

The MTX-75 in the CDW-27 NEVER got the updated 1-2 fork.
Only the Focus did. (02+)
The difference is plain as day to see. The revised 1-2 fork has a roller bearing instead of babbit material.
Part number is XS8Z-7230-DD ~ Taken directly off my website but also has been posted ad nauseam on this board including the sticky thread at the top of this forum with "Part #'s Upgraded MTX 75 Transmission shift forks" in the title.

Ok I'll exchange it then. I was looking at the MTX75Components spreadsheet, it says it was last updated May 26 2005. Under shift forks it has YS2Z-7230-BA for 1-2 with 'ball bearing' next to it.

Part numbers could have changed or it could be a mistake.
I posted those part numbers for the roller shift fork back in 2003 so who knows. Ford changes part numbers like underwear.

According to Signature's look up XS8Z-7230-DD is the 5-R shifter fork??? (yikes)
Does the YS2Z-7230-BA fork you have have a roller bearing fulcrum??? Does it match the pictures posted?
My old invoice lists the XS8Z-7230-DD fork as the 1-2 fork???

I honestly can't remember now. I recorded them in the sticky post and checked them twice before posting. However, I didn't save them after that. Whatever part numbers were on the bags I got were what I posted.
