Thanks Ray.

My intention with the car is to keep her in the best shape I can for as long as I can. Hard to find a car this well mannered (and it's paid off).

After the summer, my oldest daughter will be getting a driver's license and using the car, and my wife will still be taking her on 100-mile treks to work once a week.

Better that I spent on the up front than leave either of them stranded.

As far as the battery light though, you're saying that even after I put a new battery in her, the light will probably still come on at high rev's b/c of the floating brushes. Oh well, nearly 100K on one alternator... can't complain about that.

Thanks again,

Jim

As an update:

I swapped out the battery yesterday and the battery light disappeared... for a day.

It came back on this morning, but instead of coming on during a heavy load, it came up just before I was getting on the highway and stayed on for about 7 miles. Then it went away and didn't come back on. Confusing.

Either way - I'm done dinkering around with it. The new alternator goes on tomorrow and with any luck, this problem will be a memory.

Thanks again, Ray.
